Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1 Corsair Test Shot Has Arrived at King's Hobby Shop!

Exciting news!  We've received a test shot of the new Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1 "Birdcage" Corsair.  A quick glance at the parts and instructions reveals that this kit exceeds our expectations.

This kit is first rate!  Instructions indicate that 39 colors will be required to finish this project.  Color call outs for fuselage interior and cockpit reflect the most current research on the subject.  Tamiya has you mix salmon pink (essentially oxide red) as found on period artifacts for the kit's fuselage interior.  This goes against all prior kits which have you use various tones of zinc chromate greens or yellows, and is inaccurate for the early Corsair.  Tamiya also has you mix dull dark green (very close to FS34092) for the cockpit color instead of the traditionally thought interior green.  Thank you Tamiya for doing your homework.

Kit highlights include:

- Highly detailed cockpit assembly.
- Optional folded or extended wings.  (Instructions include separate "chapters" for each option.)
- Intricate yet very sturdy wire reinforced landing gear struts and complete wheel bays.
- Retracted landing gear option with "in flight" display stand.
- Complete twin row Pratt & Whitney R2800 engine with push rods (front and back rows), accurate gear reduction housing, and correct early magnetos and starter.
- Optional open or closed cowl flaps.
- Optional continuous radius or abbreviated radius cowl flaps (this is a first in an F4U kit).
- Photo-etch metal detail parts included.
- Decal sheet includes markings for three "Birdcage" Corsairs.

I'm sure there's a lot more to talk about but that's all the time I've got for now.  We invite you to come down to the store and check this jewel out for yourself.

Also remember we're offering 25% off the list retail price for this kit if you pre-order from us.  Check this link for more details.  http://kingshobbyshop.blogspot.com/2013/05/save-25-on-new-tamiya-132-f4u-1-corsair.html
